Summary
This proposal intends to hard deprecate the Astroport deployment on the Sei blockchain. We propose advising users to withdraw liquidity within one month, after which Sei will be removed from the Astroport Dapp and excluded from vxASTRO emissions. A simple “rescue/withdraw” UI will be provided to facilitate the process.
Motivation
Sei has shifted its focus to an EVM-based ecosystem and neglected its CosmWasm side, running outdated software (CosmWasm v0.27 and ibc-go v3), which are nearly three years old, thus it poses security risks and signals a lack of support for CosmWasm-based applications. This strategic pivot has resulted in minimal activity on the deployment, with an average daily trading volume of approximately ~$9k, negligible revenue, making operational costs unsustainable.
Deprecating Sei allows Astroport to focus resources on more actively supported deployments while ensuring user safety. Removing vxASTRO emissions further aligns incentives with active and productive deployments.
Implementation
- Remove Sei from vxASTRO Emissions: Immediately exclude Sei pools from receiving vxASTRO emissions.
- User Notification: Announce the deprecation and advise users to withdraw liquidity within one month.
- Hard Deprecation: After one month, remove Sei from the Astroport dApp.
- Rescue/Withdraw UI: Deploy a simple UI to facilitate withdrawals for SEI users.
Conclusion
The Sei deployment is no longer viable due to low activity, high costs, and security risks. Deprecating Sei ensures Astroport’s resources are better allocated while protecting users. Removing Sei from vxASTRO emissions further optimizes rewards distribution.
